Pure Life and Ziwi Peak offer two different approaches to the Australian cat food market. Pure Life markets itself as Australia's first complete meal to combine high-protein grain-free kibble with freeze-dried 100 percent real meat pieces of the same protein in the bag. Ziwi Peak is made using Z-TWINTECH, the proprietary two-stage low-temperature air-drying process developed by founder Peter Mitchell to shelf-stabilise raw diets without heat extrusion. Each brand's manufacturing method is the single clearest distinction between their product ranges.
Pure Life uses locally and sustainably sourced Australian ingredients with single-protein, grain-free recipes and a transparency claim on ingredient origin.
Ziwi Peak is made at a purpose-built kitchen in Napier, New Zealand, which replaced its original Mount Maunganui operations in 2022, with all meat and seafood sourced within New Zealand. It uses recipes that routinely carry 96 percent meat, organs, bone and green-lipped mussel with zero grain, legume or potato content.
