Background: ownership, sourcing and positioning
Addiction and Orijen sit at opposite ends of the ownership spectrum in the Australian cat food market. Addiction operates one of New Zealand's largest dry pet food plants and runs a sizeable contract-manufacturing business alongside its own brand. Orijen runs production exclusively at two company-owned kitchens in Alberta and Kentucky with no private-label work. The two brands differ in several ways beyond the one point highlighted here.
Addiction uses genuinely unusual proteins including New Zealand brushtail possum, venison, kangaroo, salmon and eel.
Orijen is built around 'WholePrey' ratios with 85 to 90 percent animal inclusions including fresh and raw meat, organs and bone.

Off. Only products with a clean dry matter basis appear, and life stages are kept comparable. This is the default.
