Background: ownership, sourcing and positioning
Addiction and Tiki Cat sit at opposite ends of the ownership spectrum in the Australian cat food market. Addiction operates one of New Zealand's largest dry pet food plants and runs a sizeable contract-manufacturing business alongside its own brand. Tiki Cat has most of its canned production made in Thai human-grade canning facilities that also produce human tuna; post-acquisition footprint now includes two Joplin Missouri plants. The two brands differ in several ways beyond the one point highlighted here.
Addiction uses genuinely unusual proteins including New Zealand brushtail possum, venison, kangaroo, salmon and eel.
Tiki Cat is built around visible shredded or flaked whole proteins like ahi tuna and wild salmon in broth rather than pate or gravy, with many recipes carbohydrate-free.

Off. Only products with a clean dry matter basis appear, and life stages are kept comparable. This is the default.
